Summary: This is a political cartoon regarding the 1963 supreme court ruling that prayer was no longer allowed in public schools. The ruling stated that it violated the First Amendment of Freedom to practice religion. This cartoon shows a wealthy white family sitting at the table as the father is reading a newpaper regarding the ruling. He is outraged stating "What do they expect us to do? Listen to the kids pray at home?"
Significance: It seems as if prayer was a bigger issue in school than it was at home. Parents didnt want to listen to their kids needs or teach them the proper morals to be followed by God.
